What is the SIREN study?

The purpose of this study is to understand whether prior infection with SARS-CoV2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) protects against future infection with the same virus.

The study has received approval from the NHS Health Research Authority Berkshire Research Ethics Committee and is funded by the National Institute of Health Research and Public Health England.

How do I take part?

You will be asked to complete a registration questionnaire and provide an updated symptom review, nose and throat swabs, and blood samples regularly (usually once every 2 or 4 weeks) for up to 12 months.

If you are interested in joining the study, please contact your organisation's research team who will provide you with your study number and passcode, which you will need to enrol. These details can only be provided by your organisation's research team.

Once you have received your study number and passcode from your organisation's research team, have read the information provided and would like to take part, please proceed to:

  1. Complete the consent form and enrolment questionnaire
  2. Contact your organisation's research team to arrange blood and swab tests
